Today I was in a club meeting at my college and before we start our meetings we present a quote of the day. Today’s quote was: “One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.” – Napoleon Hill.
Do you ever feel like something was meant for you to hear or see? That’s how I felt with this quote because it made me remember all of the times that I either quit or never tried at all due to fear. It got so bad that I ended up never trying for anything because I would talk myself out of experiences.
I became a wallflower, leaving my talents for only me to see and hear.
What really got to me in this quote was the line that said “…overtaken by temporary defeat.” Success comes with trial and error and that is what helps you grow. All the rejection, failure and embarrassment is molding you and eventually you’ll be in perfect shape to take on whatever it is that you want to be.
If you have a talent you shouldn’t push it to the side because you were laughed at for it or because you didn’t make that team the first time you tried, you keep going and you continue with it. Don’t let fear of failure be the reason you didn’t take those chances and don’t quit because you feel defeated.
