Bentonite Clay Face Mask

Once a month, every month, my skin likes to go crazy and break out for a couple of days. A few years ago I came across the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay when looking for something natural to help with my acne. Of course, before buying the clay I had to do my research so I took to Google and watched a few YouTube videos and decided to purchase it off of Amazon for $8. Here is a link to the clay (click here).

The healing clay is  100% natural bentonite that is formed by volcano ash. It is composed of many minerals and once hydrated can help to remove toxins from your pores and replace them with the minerals it contains.

I like to do my mask once or three times a week depending on how bad my acne has gotten. When I mix my mask I like to use three ingredients: apple cider vinegar, aloe vera juice and water. To start I add 2-3 scoops of the healing clay powder into a plastic container. You want to make sure to use plastic, including the mixing utensil, because metal can cause the clay to have a chemical reaction.

Apple cider vinegar is great for the skin especially if you have oily skin like me. It helps to balance out pH levels, kills bacteria and helps the healing clay remove toxins along with many other great things! I like to use the ACV ‘with the mother’ and I usually use the Bragg’s brand but this is what I had in my house. I go ahead and add 1/2 a cup into the healing clay. If you don’t have oily skin or you have sensitive skin I suggest you opt out of using ACV and just use water.

After adding the ACV I go ahead and add some aloe vera juice. Aloe vera is another great ingredient for your skin. It contains wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties to help fight off the acne.

After adding those two ingredients I go in and add water and mix everything until it turns into a smooth paste. You don’t want your mix to be too watery or too clumpy. I go ahead and use my hands and paint it on my face and after doing one layer and go over and add a second layer. I only keep it on a good 10-15 minutes or when I feel it’s right. You don’t want to leave it on to where it is fully dry, this can cause redness and can make your skin very dry if you do. Once I’m done I hop in the shower and rinse off the mask and do my usual night time skin routine. If you want me to do a post on my night time skin routine just leave a comment below.

Depending on how bad my acne is, the mask will either clear up my skin over night or in a few days.

Let me know your experiences with the bentonite clay mask in the comments below; I would love to read them!

Until next time!
