Hey, welcome to the Phenomenal Women Campaign!
Phenomenal [fi-nom–uh-nl] (adj.)- highly extraordinary or prodigious
The Phenomenal Women Project is something that I came up with in my first year of college after watching documentaries on women in the media during one of my classes. I knew beforehand that women working in businesses and in the media were treated unfairly, but I didn’t know that there was more to it than just being overlooked in board room meetings.
Being a Communications major and wanting to work in broadcasting, the documentaries showed that women are basically praised more for their appearance and not their knowledge. The documentaries went on to showing the ratio of men to women who own businesses, women being cut off and laughed at during broadcasts, being objectified, ridiculed, mocked, the list goes on. After watching the documentaries is when the idea for this project began to blossom.
Inspired by Maya Angelou’s Phenomenal Woman poem, I started this project to shed light on young women around the world who are aspiring to be extraordinary. From small business owners to bloggers, YouTubers, college students, travelers, you name it! I just want to take the time to share the stories of many young women who are phenomenal.
So if you want to be featured or if you know of anyone who is phenomenal to you, feel free to email me:
I hope you all enjoy reading the many stories and I also hope it inspires you to chase after your own dreams.
